How to Make Your Back-to-School Commute More Comfortable This Fall

Back to school means back to busy mornings. Between school drop-offs, packed parking lots, after-school activities, and the daily commute, you can spend a lot of time behind the wheel this time of year. Fortunately, today's SUVs come equipped with features designed to make those everyday drives a little more comfortable, convenient, and connected. Warm Up on Chilly Fall Mornings As temperatures start to drop, heated seats and a heated steering wheel can make a cold morning commute much more comfortable. Instead of waiting for the cabin to warm up, you can get comfortable from the moment you leave the driveway. The Chevrolet Blazer EV offers available heated front seats, while the Chevrolet Trailblazer offers available heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Stay Connected Without the Cords Between school schedules, music, podcasts and navigation, your smartphone is an important part of your daily drive. The Blazer EV comes standard with Google Built-In which makes it easy to access compatible apps and information without constantly plugging in your phone. The Trailblazer comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with an 11-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen. Wireless phone charging is also available. Let Your SUV Help With the Commute Stop-and-go traffic can make a routine commute feel much longer. Available driver-assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control can help make highway driving more convenient by automatically adjusting your speed to help maintain a set following distance. Adaptive Cruise Control is available on both the Trailblazer and Blazer, depending on configuration. Be Ready for Northwest Weather Fall in the Pacific Northwest can mean rain, wet roads and changing conditions. Having the right drivetrain can provide added confidence when the weather turns. The Trailblazer offers available AWD, while the Blazer lineup offers available AWD configurations. Whether you're navigating a rainy commute or heading out of town for a fall weekend, having available all-wheel drive can be a useful feature to have when conditions change. Make Room for Everything Backpacks. Sports equipment. Groceries. Strollers. After-school project supplies. Somehow, it all ends up in the vehicle. The Trailblazer is designed to make the most of its compact footprint, with seating for up to five, a standard fold-flat front passenger seat and up to 8.5 feet of maximum cargo length. An available hands-free power liftgate can also make loading up easier when your hands are full. If you need more room, the Blazer EV offers seating for five and up to 59.1 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, making it a versatile choice for busy families and active lifestyles. Meet Your New Commuting Companion If your fall routine calls for a compact SUV that's easy to maneuver, efficient and packed with practical features, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is worth a look. If you're looking for something larger with an all-electric powertrain, modern technology and plenty of cargo room, the Chevrolet Blazer EV brings a different kind of versatility to your daily drive. With up to 312 miles of EPA-estimated range with FWD on the 2027 model, it's designed to make every day driving electric. Make Your Commute Something to Look Forward To You may not be able to control the school-zone traffic, the morning rush or the rainy fall weather - but you can choose a vehicle that makes getting through it all a little easier. [ARCHIVED] Another Successful Year for the Evergreen State Fair Food Drive!

Originally posted July 2026. The Lee Johnson Auto Family has wrapped up another successful year for the Evergreen State Fair Food Drive, and the results are nothing short of inspiring! With the support of our generous community members and customers, the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition collected a significant amount of non-perishable food, all of which will go to support local food banks and families in need. This year’s food drive exceeded expectations, with an impressive number of non-perishables donated and thousands of free tickets distributed. The outpouring of support highlights the strong spirit of community that defines Monroe and is imbedded in the fabric of the LJ Way! Every item donated translates into meals for families facing food insecurity – an especially meaningful contribution during the summer months when demand at food banks often increases, and supply often runs low. The Lee Johnson Auto Family would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed and emphasize how proud we are to be part of a community that comes together to support one another. Our partnerships with the Evergreen State Fair and the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition serve as a powerful example of how local businesses can get involved and make a difference. As the Evergreen State Fair draws closer, excitement is building for what promises to be a fun-filled celebration of agriculture, entertainment, and community spirit. From thrilling rides and delicious fair food to exhibits and live performances, the fair is set to be a highlight of the summer – and now, thanks to the success of the food drive, it’s also a reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together. See you at the Fair! August 27 – September 1 & September 3 – September 7

[ARCHIVED] Meet Our ASEP Apprentice Technicians!

Originally Posted February 2026 The Lee Johnson Auto Family motto is Putting People First - our employees, our community, and, of course, our customers. Part of living that motto means supporting and training our staff to be the very best they can be and guiding them on a path to success. One way Speedway Chevrolet proudly puts people first is through the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP), provided through Shoreline Community College. This program gives students hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of all General Motors vehicles while teaching the fundamentals of automotive service - and it’s a program we’ve partnered with for over 20 years! Right now, we’re proud to host two apprentices: Tito and Ariel. Ariel started in the ASEP program, and program manager Scott immediately recognized her incredible potential and passion for Chevys, knowing she would be a perfect fit for the Speedway Chevrolet shop. Ariel owns her own personal fleet of Chevys, which inspired her to pursue a career as a technician. As she puts it, “If I’m going to have all of these cars, I might as well learn how to work on them!” What Ariel finds most interesting about the program is the opportunity to learn and grow - she places a high value on education and has already gained much more confidence working on her own vehicles. “The most rewarding part of the apprenticeship so far is feeling more confident in myself and my abilities. I feel like I’ve grown a lot as a person.” Looking to the future, Ariel says that in the next 5–10 years she sees herself becoming more independent in her work, still at Speedway Chevrolet. She looks up to technician Milo in the shop, saying, “He has been super successful in his career and is so proficient at his job. He can handle anything thrown at him. I hope to have that type of responsibility in the future.” Tito attended the Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center program while he was in high school and was inspired there to pursue a career in the automotive industry. “I actually had no interest in cars when I was younger, and I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Once I got the opportunity to do Sno-Isle, I decided to try something different that I had never thought about before and joined the auto technician program. I found a lot of interest and fun in it.” For Tito, the most interesting and rewarding parts of the apprenticeship have been the learning experience—especially gaining a deeper understanding of how vehicles work and applying that knowledge to his own car. “I find the most rewarding part of the apprenticeship to be just getting the job done, getting to look back and feel a real sense of accomplishment.” Our apprentices also have advice for anyone considering becoming a technician. Ariel says, “Do it—even if you’re just a little bit interested in cars and think you might want to work on them. You learn so much about everything: working with people and improving your people skills, not just mechanical skills. But it’s hard work, and it’s not easy!” Tito adds, “Don’t act like you know everything because there is so much to learn. Even if you do know a lot, there’s always more to learn.” Our apprenticeship program is a remarkable opportunity for anyone looking to launch or advance their career in the automotive industry while ensuring our technicians receive the most enriching education possible to best serve our customers. With comprehensive training, real-world experience, and the support of a dedicated team, apprentices are well-equipped to succeed in their careers and to become trusted professionals in servicing your vehicle. We strive to be proficient, trusted, efficient, and successful in taking care of both our customers and their vehicles.

[ARCHIVED] Chevy Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary with Stars & Steel Collection

Originally Posted January 2026 Chevrolet has announced the Stars & Steel Collection, a limited-edition lineup of vehicles created to coincide with the United States’ 250 th anniversary. The collection highlights distinctive patriotic design, modern performance, and a commitment to American craftsmanship. The Stars & Steel collection spans five of Chevrolet’s most iconic and hard-working models: Corvette, Silverado LD, Silverado HD, Silverado EV, and Colorado. Each vehicle in the collection will feature exclusive exterior colors, subtle American flag-inspired graphics, and select premium options designed to set them apart. True to the brand’s identity, every model in the collection is proudly assembled in the United States, underscoring Chevrolet’s continued investment in domestic manufacturing and innovation. Beyond design, the initiative carries a strong philanthropic component. For every Stars & Steel model sold, Chevrolet will donate $250 to nonprofits supporting the Veteran community, reinforcing Chevrolet’s longstanding relationship with America’s armed forces. In addition, Chevrolet will create a truly unique centerpiece for the program: a one-of-one Corvette ZR1X will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson in January. All proceeds from that auction will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting fallen and injured service members, first responders, and their families. The collection made its first public appearance at America’s Game – the Army-Navy Game held on December 13 th. Production of the Stars & Steel Collection is expected to begin early Spring 2026, with package pricing to be announced soon. This tribute builds on Chevy’s long-standing presence in the U.S. automotive industry. Founded in 1911, Chevrolet quickly became known as “the people’s car,” offering dependable, attainable vehicles for a rapidly growing nation. Over the decades, Chevy has helped shape American car culture – from the post-war boom and rise of pickup trucks as workhorses of industry, to legendary performance icons like the Corvette, which debuted in 1953 and remains a global symbol of American engineering. Chevy’s trucks have long played a vital role in building and sustaining communities, while its manufacturing footprint has supported generations of American workers. That legacy continues today as the brand expands into electrification with vehicles like the Silverado EV, proving that innovation and tradition can move forward together. With the Stars & Steel collection, Chevrolet is not only commemorating a historic national anniversary, but also reaffirming what it has stood for since the beginning: American ingenuity, hard work, and a deep respect for those who serve.
